Police are appealing to anyone who recognises this man to please call them, as he is a suspect in a rape case that happened in Kagiso recently.

Police are appealing to anyone who recognises this man to please call them, as he is a suspect in a rape case that happened in Kagiso recently.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson explained that the incident happened at about midnight on 25 April.

He said the victim told police that she and one of her male friends were walking in Tshepisong Phase 7 in Kagiso, while looking for one of her other friends. An unknown man, armed with a knife, approached the two friends from behind.

“An argument ensued between the man and the victim’s male friend. Whilst the two were arguing, the victim tried to flee but the attacker managed to catch her.”

He then allegedly dragged her into the nearby bushes and repeatedly raped her at knifepoint. The victim told police the rapist spoke seSotho.

Sibiya said the police are appealing to anyone who recognises the suspect to call the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit on 072 681 0031. Alternatively, call the Kagiso Police on 011 696 9000, 011 696 9059, 011 696 9065 or 011 696 9067.
