The swift response of the Kagiso Police led to the arrest of three house robbery suspects recently.
Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya said at about 14:00 on Tuesday June 29, they arrested three suspects on the M13 between Randfontein and Azaadville after they received a complaint about a house robbery that had just taken place in Swaneville.
While the police were following up on the information they spotted a white Toyota Tazz which fitted the description given by the complainant. They then stopped the vehicle and ordered the suspects to get out.
“The police conducted searches on the suspects and their vehicle, which resulted in two unlicensed firearms and 22 packets of cigarettes being found hidden under the front seat.”
The three suspects aged between 30 and 38 were then placed under arrest and later detained at Kagiso Police Station.
“The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic tests as part of the investigation to establish if they were used in the commission of other violent crimes.”
Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna is proud of his members’ swift response and dedication.
“I also want to thank members of the community for their positive contribution to the fight against crime.”
Captain Sibiya said the suspects will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms.
