Murder suspect arrested after almost a year in hiding

A 31-year-old man could not hide from the police forever and eventually found himself behind bars for a 2020 murder.

After spending almost a year in hiding, a 31-year-old man was put behind bars for murder.

Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya explained that the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit made the arrest in Swaneville on July 5 at about 12:45.

Sibiya said that on September 11 last year the victim was ambushed and shot by an unknown person at the Madala hostels, and later succumbed to his wounds.

“Police launched an intelligence-driven and intensified investigation which led to the successful apprehension of the 31-year-old suspect,” Sibiya said, and added that the suspect had been detained at the Kagiso Police Station and was facing charges of murder.
