Lost to Covid-19: Remembering those who’ve passed
In the past few weeks, many have experienced the loss of friends, family and community members and we cannot forget those we loved. Let us not forget them.
In the past few weeks all of us have either lost someone or know someone who has lost the battle against Covid-19.
They were community members, family and friends who have been a big part of our lives; people who changed lives. We asked the community to send us a message and a photo so that we do not forget them.
• The 40-year old Erica Burger Roets lost her life on July 4. “Erica was an amazing woman with a heart of gold.” She leaves behind her two beautiful kids, Ruan, 11, and Kayla, 7, and her husband Tertius.

• Helmar Groenewald lost her father and grandfather in one month. The 53-year-old Helgaardt Muller was a brother, father and grandfather. He worked for the South African Police Service for 35 years and lost his fight with Covid-19 on June 9. Stephanus Muller was a brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lost his fight with Covid-19 on June 27 at the age of 85.

Monnas Athletics will remember oom Kleintjie as a helpful, friendly ‘oom’ willing to drive us whenever we asked him. We will remember Oom Kleintjie not only as our driver but as a friend, always in good spirit and smiling. Rus sag, oom Kleintjie.

In the past few weeks, many have experienced the loss of friends, family and community members and we cannot forget those we loved. Let us not forget them.
For this reason we invite the community to send us a head-and-shoulders photo of the loved one they have lost to Covid-19, with a small write-up about them. We will publish this on our memorial page.
You can send the information to krugersdorpnews@caxton.co.za.
