While out on another operation Kagiso Police caught a 39-year-old man in bed with a 13-year-old girl.
Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya explained that during an operation meant to monitor and trace perpetrators of public violence and looting during the recent unrests, the police instead uncovered something different.
While out on Thursday, July 15, the police received a tip-off about a suspect hiding in Swaneville who were in possession of looted goods.
The police followed up on the information but when they arrived they found a 39-year-old man in bed with a 13-year-old girl, who he claimed was his stepdaughter.
“He was arrested and the victim was also taken to the police station for further police investigations.”
While still at the scene the police received more information which then led them to apprehending a suspect who was dealing in drugs.
“Police conducted their search inside the suspect’s room and found a few ziplock packets containing drugs, and one tablet suspected to be a drug.”
The 27-year-old suspect was also placed under arrest.
“Both suspects were detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case of statutory rape and of dealing in drugs were opened respectively.”
Kagiso Police station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna praised his members for the arrests and said, “We urge our residents to report any form of abuse directed at women and children. I thank those members of the community whose information had led to such vital arrests; let them keep it up.”
