Cold snap hits Krugersdorp

Last week's cold weather brought some beautiful sights. Here is one of the photos received by the News.

With minimum temperatures in the minuses, the past week has been one of the nippiest this year.

The South African Weather Service warned on Monday, July 19 that, “A cold front will make landfall over the south-western parts of the country. Consequently, strong north-westerly winds can be expected over the southern interior as well as along the southern and south-eastern coastal regions.”

No one would argue that Krugersdorp and the surrounding area reached freezing temperatures during the night and early morning hours, with car windscreens frosted over, lawns and foliage covered in frost, and even water features fountains frozen mid flow.
