One dead, four injured when bakkie rolls in Lanseria

Four occupants of a bakkie were seriously injured and one lost his life in an early-morning accident in Lanseria.

One person lost his life while four others were seriously injured when a bakkie rolled in Lanseria on Wednesday morning, August 4.

Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst said their paramedics responded to a collision on the R512 Pelindaba road in Lanseria at 07:50.

Reports indicate that the driver of the bakkie lost control, resulting in a rollover.”

When medics arrived on scene they found two people had been ejected from the bakkie, and three others were severely entrapped. All the occupants had sustained severe injuries.

“Sadly, one person, an adult male, was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.”

The Netcare 911 rescue technicians and another private rescue team used hydraulic tools to free the entrapped patients. They were stabilised and transported to hospital by various ambulance services.
