Magaliesburg Police arrested two men for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition over the long weekend.
In a statement from the Magaliesburg Police’s corporate communications, Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere said two men aged 31 and 36 were arrested at 23:40 on Monday, August 9.

Sergeant Mogwere explained that police responded to a call about a business robbery at a service station on Monday at 22:01.
“At the scene police were informed about the white Nissan NP200 that the suspects used during the business robbery, and the search was launched immediately.”
At about 23:40 a vehicle that matched the description was spotted at Ga-Mogale informal settlement, and when its two occupants were searched, the firearm and ammunition were recovered.
Sergeant Mogwere added that the police’s eagerness to catch these suspects continued and they noticed a suspicious charcoal Nissan Almera in the vicinity of where the robbery took place.
However, when the police approached it, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush.

“Investigations are underway to determine the arrested suspects’ involvement in business robbery. Two vehicles and two cell phones were confiscated for further investigation.”
Magaliesburg Police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Vuma thanked and praised the members for their swift response and hard work which led to the suspects being apprehended.

“Criminals must feel our presence and refrain from their acts. We in the Magaliesburg policing precinct will continue to give them a hard time,” Lieutenant Colonel Vuma added.
The members who ensured the arrests are Sergeant Lister Babedi, Constable Peter Kekae and Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere.
