
Kagiso Police continued their crime-fighting efforts in Kagiso and followed up on information about a rape suspect in Swaneville on August 7.
The Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, said in a statement that the incident took place on August 6, and the victim knew the suspect well. He allegedly met her on the street, took out a screwdriver, ordered her to go with him and later raped her.

This suspect was the first to be put behind bars by the police early that the morning. Seven other arrests followed during the day – one for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm; two for common assault; four for possession of drugs; and four for drinking in public.
J534 fines to the value of R300 were issued.
Three syringes with drugs and one packet of nyaope were among the items confiscated as a result of the arrests.”
Sibiya said they will continue to show no mercy to perpetrators of crime, especially gender-based violence related crimes.
