No smoking for some this weekend

Police followed up on a tip-off which then led them to a man in possession of a lot of dagga.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in Swaneville on Thursday evening, August 11 after he was caught with seven packs of compressed dagga.

The Kagiso Police’s spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, explained in a statement that members of the police’s Crime Prevention Unit received a tip-off about a man selling drugs.

They also were given an address and a description of the man, and they swiftly responded to the complaint. They found the 33-year-old man matching the description at the given address.

“The members conducted a thorough search of the suspect and his room, which led to the recovery of seven packs of compressed dagga. “

The man was placed under arrest and taken to the Kagiso Police Station where a case of possession of dagga was opened.

“Life will never be the same for perpetrators of crime. We will make their life difficult. A job well done to my dedicated members, not forgetting our residents who have been reliable partners lately,” said Brigadier Themba Maduna of the Kagiso Police.

The man is expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court today.
