A music video for Kagiso by Baba Sniper

Local artist Sinethemba Mthana has recently released his latest music video showing what it's like living in Kagiso.

Local music has been gaining speed for a couple of years now with the Kagiso entertainment scene growing from strength to strength every day.

One of the big figures who has more recently stepped up to the plate is the talented Sinethemba Mthana aka Dankie Baba Sniper.

On Wednesday, September 1 Sniper finally released the music video to his song Emakasana, this after the success of his first extended play album called One Shot One Kill.

“Emakasana is a song about Kagiso, its beautiful people and the lifestyle it bears. The song came from a random conversation that took place in the streets of Braamfontein where a person asked me which Kasi I came from, to which the answer made me realise that most people are not familiar with Kagiso. This interaction inspired the creation of Emakasana. I wanted to show the special details that form part of ikasi, such as street vendors and the lifestyle,” explained Sniper.

Artist Manager at Igazlomjita Sikhumbuzo Zondo said, “The video was shot by Ambition Films and features a variety of people and brands. Sniper managed to get two of his songs, Hlala la and Ijubane placed on scenes from the television series Gomora. He also received recognition from Metro FM, SlikourOnLife, Ratchet Radio and community radio stations such as Westside FM. All these successes have culminated in him working with producer Kagiso Moreki from Blacksounds to create a song for a movie titled Skhanda Love.”

Sniper is planning on releasing another extended play album by December with hopes of touring to the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gqeberha.

His music can be found on his SoundCloud and YouTube pages under ‘Dankie Baba Sniper’.
