Buggies for good

The buggies whizzed past traffic as they headed towards FORA in Krugersdorp to drop off donations and a cheque.

On a crisp Saturday, August 28 the West Rand Beach Buggies Club members drove from Hillfox Value Centre to hand over donations to FORA. The buggies in flamboyant colours and over-enthusiastic drivers roared as they sped past traffic.

Saturday’s cold weather could not deter the members to hand over a cheque for R10 000 to FORA as well as food and blankets donated by Buco Honeydew.

Linda Scrace, shelter manager at FORA said, “This means a lot for the animals. This donation is amazing and it is going to help pay some of our vet bills. It goes a long way to help us and the work that we do.”

Andre Boje from the club said they raised money because of the good work the organisation does and because FORA depends solely on donations.

“I love being in my buggie, it’s like my toy. This is just our way to give back to organisations that really need help, especially in these times,” said Johnny van Rensburg.

From the rescue shelter, the buggies proceeded to Wilro Park to pay tribute and lay flowers at the home of one their recently deceased member. “Dwayne, we miss you, and we know you are looking down on us right now and you are proud. We feel you here with us,” Boje said as each member laid down a flower.
