Introducing Kagiso Lekagane as DA candidate councillor

The municipal elections will take place on Monday, November 1.

Kagiso Edmund Lekagane, 44, DA candidate councillor for Ward 11 in Kagiso recently answered the News’ questions regarding the upcoming local government elections.

1. What have you done during your time in office?
In the past five years I managed to fight for housing allocations to the residents of Ward 11 regardless of party affiliation, launched a petition for the houses not fitted with geysers in Chief Mogale Phase 1, and fought to get speed-calming measures in the ward.

2. If you were elected, what would you focus on and why?
I will focus on creating an environment conducive to investment and youth development so that we alleviate community dependency on the government for job creation.

3. Why should the community vote for you?
The community should vote for me because I am a tried and tested community activist and will always strive for what is the best for our residents.

4. Outside of your council duties, how are you involved in the community?
I am also a community safety champion and participate in the men’s forum.

5. What past experiences make you uniquely qualified for this role?
The past experience I have apart from being a councillor is that I have served on the CPF West Rand Executive as a Secretary in 2009/ 2010, and I believe in sports development and often sponsor kids with kits and soccer balls to assist with developing them at their young age.

The municipal elections will take place on Monday, November 1.
