To the skies on a windy day
The Krugersdorp Flying Club' s annual Spot Landing and Airfield Festival again attracted many aviation enthusiasts from all over.
The Krugersdorp Flying Club (KFC) once again hosted their annual Spot Landing and Airfield Festival to some success on Saturday, October 16 at the Jack Taylor Airlfield – although the wind didn’t quite play along.
The avid aviation enthusiasts were eager to take to the skies once again after the past year and a half’s pandemic had largely hampered events such as these.
The event was originally scheduled for late July, but because of Covid it was postponed to October to better ensure everyone’s safety.
Notwithstanding, pilots were able to quench their thirst for flying for a while, but the day’s social element has always been just as important as the competition itself. A lucky draw was held during the day, various stalls were available and the PUMA Flying Lions gave an impressive display of their skills and precision flying, despite the moments of powerful winds.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the KFC, which plans on hosting plenty more events to make up for the downtime during the pandemic.
