Mogale City rolls out new electricity tariffs

Mogale City has introduced flat-rate and flexi-time electricity tariffs for different consumer categories.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has updated its electricity tariff structures, introducing flat-rate and flexi-time tariffs for residents and businesses.

MCLM assistant manager for media and PR Refilwe Mahlangu said consumers should note that the two tariff structures differ.

She explained that flat-rate tariffs apply to domestic categories, including indigent, standard domestic, large domestic and small commercial users and households.

“It has replaced the inclining block tariff structure, where a single tariff applies, nonetheless, when electricity is used,” she said.

Flexi-time tariffs apply to medium commercial, large commercial, medium industrial and large industrial consumers.

“It has replaced the previous flat-rate tariff structure for these user categories, where the price of the electricity used differs by time, date and season,” she said.
