Police said they will leave no stone unturned to find those responsible for a senseless killing recently.
Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said at about 06:25 on Saturday, October 17, two people were assaulted by a group of more than 50 people at Riverside in Kagiso.
He explained that the police received a complaint about an attack at about 06:10 and immediately proceeded to the given address.
“Upon arrival at the scene of the crime the police found more than 50 people standing on the street next to the assaulted and bleeding bodies of the victims who were lying on the ground,” he said.
According to Captain Sibiya, the 27-year-old and 32-year-old victims could have been assaulted with an assortment of objects and they both sustained multiple severe injuries.
He added that no one on scene would inform the police about who the perpetrators were, provide any details nor give a motive for the brutal attack.
“The two victims who are residents in the area were rushed to the local hospital in a critical condition but the 32-year-old succumbed to injuries on arrival at the hospital.”
Captain Sibiya added this was unfortunately not the only incident of its kind in Kagiso.
He said on Wednesday October 13, a man in his mid-20s was also attacked by a group of angry people in Swaneville.
He was also severely assaulted and was rescued when police arrived. He was later rushed to hospital in a stable condition.
Kagiso Police station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna expressed his disappointment by saying, “The fact that no one has come forward to police or have taken responsibility to provide information on scene, shows that perpetrators of such crimes have done it with a purpose as they totally defied the law. They are going to face the might of the law.”
