The West Rand Police once again had a successful Okae Malao operation in Kagiso recently.

The police once again held one of their weekly Okae Molao operations, this time in Kagiso, which led to 23 arrests.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said the operation took residents by surprise.

It started at 15:00 on Friday, October 29 and was led by the West Rand District Police commissioner Major General Fred Kekana. It continued until 22:00. The Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna was the Operational commander and he was supported by Brigadier Jacob Manamela from Randfontein, Brigadier Theron from Khutsong and Brigadier Happy Xaba from Krugersdorp.

Mogale City’s traffic officers as well as local safety patrollers were also part of the operation.

“Despite the unfriendly weather conditions, the operation yielded good successes,” Sibiya said.

They arrested four people for being in possession of dagga, three people for dealing in liquor without a licence, one person for being in possession of drugs, and 12 people for being illegal immigrants.

According to Captain Sibiya, the general thanked all those involved for not giving up, even though it was raining.

“You have shown great commitment and determination to bring crime to its knees, not allowing weather conditions to stand in your way. I therefore thank you all. Go well and always take care of yourselves and those next to you,” Kekana said.
