Rand Water said the planned tie-in from November 15 to 17 will not result in a total water cut-off.
A statement sent by Justice Mohale reads that Rand Water has noted with concern media reports purporting total water cuts in the Gauteng province because of the planned tie-in.
“A planned tie-in is by no means a total cut-off of water supply. The term ‘shutdown’ is a technical phrase which has been used over the years to describe a section of the system that may be affected by maintenance,” said the statement.
Water will be flowing into the system during that period but at reduced quantities and pressure.
“Rand Water has issued a 21-days’ notice to the affected customers as some areas may experience water supply shortages. Rand Water would like to urge consumers to continue using water sparingly.”
