Ex-boyfriend kills woman, then turns gun on himself

Kagiso Police have reported a murder-suicide early Tuesday morning.

Kagiso Police confirmed a 36-year-old teacher had been shot and killed at her home, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend early Tuesday morning, November 16. He then turned the gun on himself.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said, “The 37-year-old suspect who worked as a security guard, shared a child with the victim. It’s alleged they were no longer on good terms and had separated. He reported for duty and later left the work premises. He drove to his ex-girlfriend’s residence where he found her still asleep with her elder sister.”

Sibiya further explained that, purportedly, an argument ensued between the two and the man drew a firearm and fired several shots before turning the weapon on himself.

The motive for the shooting is still being investigated by Kagiso Police.

Brigadier Themba Maduna, Kagiso Police station commander said, “We condemn the acts of violent attacks and brutality directed at women and children in the most strongest terms. We wish to once more remind women to report any life-threatening situation to the police immediately.”
