Luipaardsvlei Clinic always there to help
The Luipaardsvlei Clinic's committee members held an open day on Tuesday, November 23 to inform their community about the role they play in their lives.
The Luipaardsvlei Clinic, like other clinics and medical centres across the West Rand, has been on the frontline in the fight for resident’s health since the very first day of the 2020/2021 pandemic, never taking a break, showing up each day in the face of danger to help those who need it.
On Tuesday, November 23, the clinic’s committee re-introduced themselves to their community during an event similar to a grand opening – despite having been open all this time. The aim was to remind the locals that the clinic is there to address people’s general health problems, or to refer them to another medical centre if the problem is more serious.

The clinic invited their social worker, dietician, operational health manager, pastor and committee members to speak on health issues and the role the clinic plays in the community during the course of Tuesday .
The clinic, located at the Jubilee Hall on Victor Street, is open eight hours a day and helps visitors navigate the various medical systems, assist them with Covid-19 screenings and general wellness, and has social workers and doctors who visit throughout the week.
“The main responsibility of the committee is to act as liaison between the clinic and the community,” explained Angie Morake, committee secretary. “We are all volunteers and help to run the clinic. Currently we are six members and invite more people to volunteer. According to protocols, we need about eight to ten committee members.”
Die Vleispot, Dismart Witpoortjie, Pick n Pay Witpoortjie and Saverite Palace Supermarket, among other, donated various items such as food, water and juice to the clinic to help make the day a success.
