The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has announced planned roadworks in the Krugersdorp Central Business District and other areas.
A communique from the MCLM explained that, “Road maintenance is essential not only to preserve the road in its originally constructed condition but also to protect adjacent resources and ensure user safety. In an effort to achieve this, the road network in Mogale City requires ongoing maintenance. Accordingly, the municipality’s Road and Transport Services Division earlier this week embarked on a Roads Rehabilitation and Resurfacing Project to also improve the condition of main access roads into the city’s CBD”.
According to the MCLM, the roads that are affected are Chamdor Road from Leratong Hospital to the Voortrekker Road intersection; Barrat Road from Voortrekker Road to the train station and taxi rank; Luipaard Street from Coronation Road to Paardekraal Road; and the section of Voortrekker Road across from Burger Box Roadhouse.
“Although work is currently underway, personnel will take a break on December 15 for the holiday season and resume in the new year on January17. The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2022; however, this is subject to stable working weather conditions.
“Details on detours and temporary road closures because of the said work will be made available on the MCLM website and in local newspapers; we therefore encourage residents, businesses and road users to monitor our website for updates.”
