Following the hefty sentence of a West Rand man recently the station commanders in the district also wanted to congratulate the investigating officer for a job well done.
The News reported recently that 37-year-old Fernando Raymond Tivani – who had ten cases against him – was sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional 188 years by the South Gauteng High Court.

Tivani was from Ebumnadini Kagiso and committed various crimes in the West Rand ranging from robbery to murder between March 2008 and May 2019. The ten cases against him was opened at three different police precincts namely Krugersdorp, Muldersdrift and Magaliesburg with Krugersdorp Police station commander Brigadier Happy Xaba; Muldersdrift Police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Setlhare and Magaliesburg Police station commander Mawewe Vuma welcoming the sentence.
He was positively linked by his fingerprints collected at various crime scenes after he was arrested for a housebreaking and theft on Van Oordt Street in Noordheuwel on May 2, 2019,” explained Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane.
Brigadier Xaba on behalf of the three police stations added, “We congratulate Detective Warrant Officer Conrad Robertson for his hard work and thorough investigation that led to the successful conviction of the accused. The fight against serious and violent crimes remain a priority for the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the West Rand.
“We believe that this hefty sentence will serve as a deterrent for those thinking of committing crime.”
