FOUND: Missing Lewisham girl found safe

A missing girl has been found safe.

A missing 6-year-old Lewisham girl has been found safe in a shopping mall. The News has been informed the Roodepoort Police are handling the matter.

Family members are searching for a 6-year-old Lewisham girl who’s been missing for more than 24 hours.

Speaking to the News, Cornelia van Niekerk (the mother) explained her daughter, Maryke Michelle, was playing outside their apartment on Stasie Street, Lewisham at about 11:30 on Tuesday, December 21 when she disappeared.

She added Maryke played outside where she usually does and where she could keep an eye on her but when she looked away for a brief moment and then back again, Maryke was gone. She then called out her name but there was no answer.

When Cornelia went outside, the little girl was nowhere to be found.

Maryke has brown eyes and shoulder length brown curly hair. She was last seen wearing a grey long sleeve top with black stripes and grey long pants without shoes.

Cornelia confirmed that she reported the incident to the police and asked that anyone with any information please phone her on 061 384 3590.
