Man shot at Muldersdrift liquor store in critical condition

A man was critically wounded after being shot during an alleged robbery at a liquor store in Muldersdrift.

A man sustained critical injuries during a shooting at a liquor store on Drift Boulevard in Muldersdrift.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said they responded to the shooting just before 13:00 on Thursday, December 30.

Reports indicate that a 55-year-old man had been shot in the chest. Medics assessed the scene and found the patient in a critical condition. He was treated on scene by emergency care practitioners.

Due to the nature of the man’s injuries, Emer-G-Med advanced life support paramedics activated a Netcare 911 helicopter ambulance to fly the patient to a specialist medical facility.

“Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities who were on scene.”

Emer-G-Med said in a statement, “Reports from the scene allege that an unknown number of thugs robbed the store before firing a shot that struck the man in the chest. The police were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigations.”
