Teachers shape the minds of future generations and work very hard every day to do so.
To help them in this crucial endeavour, teachers need the right classroom tools. In modern teaching, computers have become an integral part of the teaching process, and schools are doing their utmost to get that technology implemented.
At Lewisham Primary School this process is still ongoing as some classes use laptops and overhead digital projectors, and others still use the older mirror-styled projectors that most people over 20 might remember growing up with.
Impisi Fibre, located near the school, wished to positively impact their community and identified the school as the perfect way to improve many people’s lives at once.
Thom Sherrard, CEO of Impisi Fibre sat down with Principal Connie Tshbalala to discuss the school’s needs. They identified a few which Impisi wanted to help out with and on Tuesday, January 18 the first donation was made.
Somila Nyamakazi, Impisi’s Social Community Strategist delivered four brand-new digital projectors, explaining that they’re currently working on the next two donations which will be as large or larger than the first.
The school said they would be happy with sports jerseys from a retailer like Mr Price, but that didn’t sit well with the CEO who said we should design new rugby and hockey jerseys from scratch,” explained Somila.
School staff were excited about the donation and asked two of their learners to prepare a poems for Impisi, thanking them for their involvement in their school. Teachers also wanted to take the company representatives on a tour of the school to show them where and how the projectors were to be used in the classrooms.
