Robbers target Kagiso clinic: Guards held at gunpoint, computers stolen

Five people held up two security guards, broke into the clinic and stole all the computers.

Computers and other electrical equipment were stolen from a clinic in Kagiso Extension 12 this past weekend.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said in a statement that the residents of Extension 12 have been badly affected after at least five thugs broke into the clinic.

He said at about 02:10 on Saturday, January 15, they overpowered two guards at the clinic. They held the guards at gunpoint and tied their hands. They then broke into the clinic where they took computers from the offices.

“As they left the building they fired one shot in the air. No one was injured during the robbery,” Captain Sibiya said.

A case of business robbery has been opened with the Kagiso Police who are now appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of these perpetrators.

We would like to challenge residents to protect their important infrastructure from those who have no respect for their lives and well-being. It is the responsibility of community members to expose and report such perpetrators to the police. Theft of such resources is going to affect not only the management of the clinic, but all residents of Kagiso and surrounding areas.

“Residents must therefore not suffer in silence when their property is destroyed,” urged Kagiso Police station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna.

If you are able to provide the police with information you can contact them on the Crime Stop line on 08600 1011, or the Kagiso Police Station numbers 011 696 9059, 011 696 9065 and 011 696 9067.
