LATEST: Covid-19 infections on the West Rand shows slight increase with total fully vaccinated at 297 441

Covid-19 active cases, vaccination numbers to date on West Rand

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of January 31 sits at 1 168 278 with 1 139 674 recoveries and 20 430 deaths.

A total number of 1 988 people are currently hospitalised in the public (945) and private (1 043) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 63 437 with 61 120 recoveries and 1 746 deaths. This translates to a total of 571 active cases.

A total of 8 353 026 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of January 31. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 344 375.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 575 278 vaccinations have been administered, with 300 943 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 588 685 vaccines have been administered with 1 793 315 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.

All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
