Police nab dagga dealer, two thieves with 28 solar panels

Hekpoort Police and West Rand Crime Intelligence Unit made three arrests which involved the possession of stolen solar panels and dealing in dagga.

Hekpoort Police arrested two suspects aged 35 and 38 for business robbery and being in possession of stolen property. A 55-year-old suffered the same fate for dealing in dagga.

Hekpoort Police spokesperson Sergeant Gloria Maswanganye said they and the West Rand Crime Intelligence Unit combined their resources to make the arrests on Thursday morning, February 17.

The arrest came after a case of business robbery was reported at the Hekpoort Police. It is alleged that two guards were patrolling on the farm next to Masakhane when they were accosted by four thugs who pointed a firearm at them, tied them up, stole about 30 solar panels, and drove off in a double-cab bakkie.

“Hekpoort Police along with the West Rand Crime Intelligence Unit followed up on information that took them to the Ga-mogale township in Magaliesburg. They found 28 solar panels and they arrested two men for business robbery and possession of stolen property. They also searched a house in Ga-mogale and found packed dagga. The 55-year-old owner of the house was also arrested for dealing in dagga.”
