Woman raped and robbed at gunpoint in Muldersdrift: Man wanted

A woman was robbed and raped at gunpoint after accepting a lift in Nooitgedacht, Muldersdrift. Police have since released an ID kit of one of the possible suspects.

The man pictured is wanted by Muldersdrift Police and the Krugersdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for being involved in a robbery as well as raping a woman.

Muldersdrift Police spokesperson Sergeant Mulalo Ndou said the incident happened at about 19:25 on Sunday, February 13 on Copperhouse Road in Nooitgedacht, Muldersdrift.

The victim alleged that she was waiting for a taxi at the corner of Malibongwe Drive and R114 Road near a wilderness reserve when a white Nissan Almera with two occupants stopped and offered her a ride. She and another commuter got into the car. The latter, an unknown man was dropped off at the T-junction of Marina Street and Old Pretoria road.

“The driver turned into Copperhouse Road and drove into the bushes near a manufacturing site. The passenger in the front seat took out a firearm, pointed it at the victim and demanded her cellphone, bank card as well as PIN. The driver then got out and dragged the victim into the bushes where he raped her at gunpoint.”

After the victim was robbed and raped, she was left there.

“She walked home as it was not far from where the incident happened. A case was opened and registered at the Muldersdrift Police.”
