LETTER: Motivation can move mountains

'Most of us have a giant in our lives that we would love to overcome.'

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

A pastor in town lost 60kg in weight; 60kg. I was honestly impressed. I have seen people quit alcohol, stop smoking and beat other addictions.

Counselling, diets, patches and operations can help lose weight, but losing 60 kilograms is almost unbelievable. I could not wait to have coffee with him. Yes, I know what you are thinking, “How did he do it?” I don’t know, I didn’t ask him. All I wanted to know was what motivated him. Human nature is to follow others.

If only we could do what others do, we will get what they got. Not always true. We don’t all have the same self-discipline, self-control or power to complete what we start.

Most of us have a giant in our lives that we would love to overcome.

If this pastor, with his strong motivation, could do the impossible, loosing 60 kilograms, you can beat your giant. How? It is all up to how motivated you are.

Mark 9:23, “If you can, said Jesus, everything is possible for him who believes.”

If motivation can move mountains, your life can change forever.
