Man drowns in a river in Silverfields

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was declared dead following a fatal drowning in a river in Silverfields over the weekend.

Emergency response units arrived at the scene of a drowning in Silverfields at 04:00 on Saturday, March 12.

The victim is said to be a man in his 30s.

Ineke van Huyssteen, ER24 multimedia journalist said, “ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 04:00, along with the police K9 Search and Rescue and Diving Unit.

After a short walk, they found the man lying in the river. Unfortunately, he showed no signs of life and was declared dead by paramedics at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics.”
