Three found in possession of gold-bearing material in taxi

Krugersdorp Police arrested three men for the possession of multiple bags containing gold-bearing material in a taxi in the CBD.

Krugersdorp Police arrested three men aged between 19 and 26 for the illegal possession of gold-bearing material in the CBD on Monday, March 14.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane explained that the arrests were made while conducting patrols. and during a stop-and-search operation across town.

“At the corner of Fountain and Halse Streets, members spotted a suspicious white taxi with three unknown male occupants. They stopped and searched the vehicle.

Police found 55 bags containing gold-bearing material. The three men were unable to produce any documentation for possessing or transporting gold-bearing material, and they were arrested and placed in the police cells.”

The suspects are set to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
