Taxi pulled over in Tarlton: Police seize money and more – six arrested

Gauteng Police revealed more information after six suspects were arrested in Tarlton, Krugersdorp following a robbery in a neighbouring province.

Gauteng Police have confirmed that an undisclosed amount of money and housebreaking implements were seized after six suspects aged between 29 and 61 were arrested in Tarlton, Krugersdorp last week.

Gauteng Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said that on Friday morning, March 18 members of the West Rand Flying Squad acted swiftly on intelligence-driven information about a suspicious Toyota Quantam with six occupants travelling from North West en route to Krugersdorp on the R24.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that they had committed a robbery in Lehutshe, North West. The suspects’ vehicle was spotted and immediately stopped and searched. Police seized an undisclosed amount of money and housebreaking implements.”

Acting Provincial Police commissioner Major General Girly Mbele Sello commended the members’ swift response and hard work.

She also thanked the community members who continue to work together with the police to fight crime through reporting any criminal activities and providing the police with positive tip-offs.
