Magaliesburg Police recover bakkie reported stolen in Alberton

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was linked to a case of motor vehicle theft at Edenpark Police Station.

Magaliesburg Police members Warrant Officer Ben Mckittrick and Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere responded to a look-out for a stolen bakkie allegedly on its way from Rustenburg on Wednesday, March 23 at about 15:30.

The white Toyota Hilux bakkie that matched the description was spotted and stopped on Rustenburg Road in Seekoeihoek towards Magaliesburg,” explained Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere, Magaliesburg Police spokesperson.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was linked to a case of motor vehicle theft at Edenpark Police Station in Alberton.

“Magaliesburg Police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Mawewe Vuma commended members for their efforts in responding swiftly to information that led to the apprehension of the suspect.”

The 35-year-old man will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
