SPCA and fire department come to the rescue of 60 pigs

The truck transporting the pigs broke down and had already been standing in the hot sun for two hours when local heroes came to the rescue.

The Mogale City Fire Department and SPCA recently came to the aid of 60 pigs after the truck that was carrying them broke down in the heat.

In a post on the SPCA Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp Facebook page they explained that the truck broke down near Cradlestone Mall and had already been standing in the sun for two hours by the time their inspectors reached the truck. By then the pigs were panting from the heat.

The Mogale City Fire Department assisted by cooling off the pigs with water while the truck was being repaired.

Our inspectors followed the truck to its destination to ensure there were no further problems along the way,” read the post.

They also asked that the public support their inspectors with donations.

“Without your donations we would not be able to help all the animal in need of assistance.”

You can visit their Facebook page for more information on how to make donations.
