Daar was meer as 1 000 inskrywings.”

There’s something so serene about the pitter-patter of the raindrops on the hospital pane.
Though it’s merely a distraction from the harsh reality.
I grasp your hand tightly as I stare into your benevolent yet lifeless eyes, wishing I could get a
grip on your memories too.
Everyone had lost hope but I haven’t given up on you. I still come every week, retelling your life
story. Much like a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly, but over and over again.
In one lifetime you were a vindictive villain who became the most magnanimous man at the
institute after turning over a new leaf.
In another you were the most magnificent spy. We ended up getting in trouble for sleuthing
around for non-existent clues.

Today, you were a daredevil mountain climber. The wrinkles on your skin show close resemblance
to the crevasses from your adventurous stories – not only skin deep but extending into the void
you have become.
I sometimes wonder if the butterfly effect is real. Can one minuscule detail truly change such a
tragic fate?
The pain is excruciating and the price we have to pay is exorbitant but I promise I won’t let you
wither away mindlessly… even if you had forgotten me. I’ll continue to fill the gaps. I’ll continue to
sculpt your lost memories until all your butterflies have been set free
