LISTEN as resident’s passion for gospel continues

Lazarus Botsi who has the voice of an angel and true passion for gospel has released a couple of new singles.

Lazarus Botsi has the voice of an angel and a passion for making Jesus’ name known all over the world.

He recently released his newest single Yahweh which translates to ‘I am who I am’. The 40-year-old singer was born in Brits and grew up on a farm called Geluk. In 2018 he moved to Krugersdorp where he lives with his beautiful wife and children. He started singing at a young age and used to sing during assembly at the church on the farm. He started his professional singing career in 2002 after he matriculated.

“That is when I told myself I was pursuing this talent of singing.”

The reason he decided on gospel as a genre is because he believes it fulfils his calling of passionately making Jesus known throughout the whole world. He explained that even while his family did not attend church very much while he was growing up, they did teach him to pray no matter what.

They always emphasised that God is there and will answer all my prayers. This stirred something inside of me.”

When he went to high school he lived with his cousin and they were church-goers. It is in that time, in 1999, that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour, and has never looked back. Although he does not preach much from the pulpit he says that his music does the preaching for him.

“I deliver the good news through the angelic voice God has given me.”

If he is not working he does Systems and Support analytics for a large South African bank. Lazarus started recording his music in 2009 and release his first full album Madimo O Lerato (‘God is Love’) in 2015. Since then he has also released a couple of other singles.

In November 2018 he recorded a DVD live at the World of Yamaha theatre in Sandton. Everything took months of preparations. While they were finalising the post production there was a break-in at the videographer’s studio and all his equipment was stolen, including the drives with the DVD.

“Luckily the audio capturer had the data which we are working on to finalise and release the full album. God’s timing is always perfect.”

Yahweh is inspired by the current coronavirus ordeal that we are all facing, as well as the KZN floods.

“It encourages people to run to God in all situations, as we know in Him we are saved and healed.”

He wrote the song himself and the music was composed by Pastor Jabu Nkabinde. Lazarus said together they make a great team and that the pastor understands his calling. The message he wants to bring across with his music is never to doubt God because He knows better we do.

To the community I will always say – let’s always work together, and have the spirit of Ubuntu to make our communities a better place.”

If you want to hear this passionate man sing you can listen to Yahweh on Apple music, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube music and Deezer to name a few.
