Hike-a-thon to raise funds for abandoned babies

The event was held at the beautiful Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge.

On June 26 Mrs Krugersdorp 2021/22, Jenny-Lee Swanepoel hosted a hike-a-thon alongside AfriForum’s Krugersdorp branch to raise funds for Hopelands. Jenny-Lee is the ambassador for Hopelands.

The event was held at the Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge, and the fit and not so fit could hit the beautiful trails as early as 07:00. There were also a variety of market stalls and mouthwatering food on offer.

Hopelands is a non-profit company that rescues and houses abandoned and orphaned babies. They have a village in Magaliesburg and are planning more. They also hope to build community training centres for skills development.

According to Tich Smith, Founder of LIV, 900 babies are abandoned in South Africa per month. Of these only 300 survive and are rescued.
