Hot water for elderly in Wagen Street after eight years!

Paint needed for units and roof.

This past weekend, more leeway was made in the fight against the decay at the municipal flats for the elderly on Wagen Street in Burgershoop.

The initiative spearheaded by Pastor Mike van Rooyen saw four geysers being installed – one on Friday (July 1) and three on Saturday (July 2). The installation was done by Phillip Schutte, Jan de Bruyn, and their teams. The geysers that were donated by members of the public brought much relief for the recipients of whom some have been without hot water for as long as eight years.

According to some sources, these municipal flats have been neglected for almost 30 years

 

. Mike, who is a ward council member for Ward 38 and his associates assist Councillor Trudie Naude in the area.

But there is still much to do at the flats.

Mike is now appealing to the public for paint for the units, and for the roof of the buildings. Anyone who wants to assist can contact him on 074 926 1773.
