Attorneys swop robes for brushes and brooms on Mandela Day

Rant-en-Dal Prisma Community Church partnered for the initiative.

The staff of Kruger & Pottinger Attorneys (KPA) and members of Rant-en-Dal Prisma Community Church made their contribution on Mandela Day at the municipal old age flats on Wagen Street.

Hermus Coetzee, the litigation manager of KPA, also happens to be a member of the church. Since the church already had a feeding scheme at the flats, Coetzee decided to rally his colleagues around the idea of not only giving 67 minutes of their time for a good cause but their whole day. The 40-odd staff members worked in shifts throughout the day to clean and paint the flats’ small recreation hall and its kitchen. The hall is used for church services, prayer meetings and as a social meeting venue for the residents.

“There is absolutely no money for painting and cleaning here. That is why we decided to clean and paint at least one area for them where there are playing cards, board games and books, which we all supplied,” said candidate attorney Sune Jordan.

The church also treated close to 100 residents to boerie rolls and gift bags.
