Brace yourself for more thunderstorms

A yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the South African Weather Services for today, December 12.

Gauteng is in for yet another wet afternoon and evening according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

Gauteng Weather posted an alert from the SAWS warning residents of a medium to high likelihood of severe thunderstorms that’s expected over the entire Gauteng on Monday, December 12 from 14:00 until midnight.

Gauteng Weather Tweeted that potential threats include large amounts of small hail, flooding, heavy rain and damaging winds.

SAWS has issued a yellow level 2 warning for with possible heavy downpours, leading to localised flooding of low lying bridges, settlement and roads, damage to infrastructure areas expected over the northern parts of Gauteng.

They also issued an orange level 5 warning for severe thunderstorm with possible damage or loss of infrastructure, settlement (formal and informal), damage on property and vehicles, roads flooding resulting in some closure of some bridges and roads are expected over the central parts of the Western Cape, southern Gauteng, central and north-eastern parts of Free State.
