Elzaan explained that her mother was on her way from Krugersdorp to Roodepoort where she planned on doing some shopping. She was driving alone and Elzaan said that according to eye witnesses there was a woman in a red Toyota on her way from Roodepoort to Krugersdorp.

“She was driving incredibly fast and reckless and she allegedly had lost control of her vehicle,” Elzaan said.

Eye witnesses said the woman then went over the median without attempting to brake and her vehicle became airborne before hitting Selma’s car on the driver’s side. The Toyota then landed on its roof and it is believed a blue Bantam bakkie drove into the Toyota.

Elzaan said the three passengers in the bakkie, a man and his fiance was in the front while another passenger was sitting in the back. Selma and the fiance [who was in the bakkie] died that day.

Selma lived in Monument and had her own transport business and was a mother of two daughters.

My mom was a people’s person, she was passionate about everything that she took on in life, especially her business. She knew a lot of people and was loved by many.”

She described her mom as a spontaneous, lovable person who was known as ‘Sally Sunshine’ because she was the sunshine in so many people’s lives. Selma also loved helping people and assisted wherever she could.

“My mom was a very stylish and classy woman. In the business she was known for her integrity, being hard working and having the ability to make a success of everything no matter what obstacles she faced.”

She said her mom was one-in-a-million, the sunshine that was taken away from them.

Her death is a great loss to us all.”

Elzaan is appealing to the public to please help her get justice for her mother’s untimely death. They are looking for any photos or videos that may be captured of the crash. A case of culpable homicide has been opened with the Krugersdorp Police.

They are also asking for eye witnesses who are willing to do an affidavit to please contact them.
