Situated on the corner of 9 Matroosberg Street and Swartberg Street in Noordheuwel the bar and diner is an easy find and has become popular in its surrounding areas.
The diner and bar first opened its doors in January 2022 and it has been frequented by locals ever since. Colorado Bar and Diner restaurant manager Hendrik Hamman said they were driven by passion when they opened their doors.
This is a very good experience for us. We have been received warmly by our client base and we can only hope to expand on that and appeal to a much bigger clientele,” said Hamman.
The restaurant opens at 10:00 every day and closes just after midnight Monday to Saturday. It is closed on Sundays. On arrival the friendly staff members welcome clients with a smile and are always keen to take one’s order.
Grabbing one’s attention is the decor of the bar, with its high black and white chairs and huge plasma TVs for the lovers of sport.
The bar used to be known as Charlie’s Club House and continues to offer food for the soul.
Asked what her personal favourite dish is, the bar and diner owner Drieka Haynes said she loves their burger, while Hamman opted for the Eisbein as his favourite dish.
The two described their meals as mouth-watering and said their 500g rump steak is the most popular dish at the restaurant. They are predominantly a reserved type of establishment where people can have a good time in a positive atmosphere.
Our place is more peaceful and there’s really no fighting. We cater for the older crowd that wants to sit back and relax, grab a meal and a beer in between,” said Haynes.
Adding to the vibe is the bar’s signature karaoke nights every Wednesday, and on Fridays, artists often entertain the crowd at the bar, among them Francois Jacobs, Charne Grabie, JP White, Marissa and Kay-bee.
