Five podcasts you need to know
Podcasts are a big part of the digital media space. Nicole Junkermann shares what she listens to every week.

Podcasts are one of the best ways to consume information, and quickly, and as such they are invaluable for investors and entrepreneurs like Nicole Junkermann, the international investor and businesswoman who founded NJF Capital.
Nicole shares five podcasts that she listens to to ensure she’s kept in the loop at all times.
- 20VC with Harry Stebbings
“Harry Stebbings is an excellent young journalist based in London,” explains Nicole. “His podcast The 20-Minute VC (aka 20VC) is a must-listen to for anyone interested in goings-on in the world of venture capital and start-ups, and he regularly has excellent guests on to be interviewed to fascinating effect – not least the founders of several businesses I have invested in myself.”
- The Prince
“The Prince came out this year, and is produced by The Economist and presented by their China correspondent Sue-Lin Wong. It focuses on the life of Xi Jinping, and represents one of the few deep dives into Xi’s non-official biography. I loved it, and recommended it to about a dozen friends and colleagues.”
- ZOE Science & Nutrition
“The ZOE podcast is the in-house series produced by Professor Tim Spector and his team based at King’s College London, who research nutrition, health, diet and address myths and questions pertaining to them such as ‘Is it bad to eat before you go to sleep?’ or ‘Are calories a good way to track how much you eat?’. I find it extremely helpful as a supplement to our research when we consider certain BioTech investments, but it’s also a hugely useful and interesting podcast to a layperson in its own right.”
- The Rest is Politics
“The Rest Is Politics is one of the most popular podcast series in the UK, and for good reason. It’s hosted by two of the most prominent politicians aligned with the political centre ground in the last 20 years, Alistair Campbell and Rory Stewart, and its full of insight and exciting anecdote. They always have fresh but essentially thoughtful takes on what’s going on in British politics, no matter how turbulent things get…”
- The New Yorker Radio Hour
“The wonderful thing about The New Yorker Radio Hour is the heady blend of politics with cultural comment and longform storytelling. You never know what is going to come up on any one day, nor how long it might be – you could get a three-hour series about domestic extremism in the USA, or a fifteen-minute chat with an actor or writer, or a deep dive into the political situation in a country you rarely consider. Whatever the case, it’s always fresh and engaging.”’
Take your pick and enjoy the world of podcasting.
