Man arrested for father’s murder

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after his father died from stab wounds.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his own father after the two of them allegedly argued.

Kagiso Police Spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya explained their police sector members were busy with crime prevention duties when they were informed of a murder that had taken place.

When the police arrived at the address, Captain Sibiya said they found confused family members standing around outside the house. They were taken to a bedroom where they found a 56-year-old man bleeding in his bed with a stab wound in his neck.

Sibiya said the deceased’s daughter told police that her brother, who is also the arrested 28 year old suspect, lives in a shack at the back of their home and came to the main house to prepare himself some food.

“His father noticed that the suspect was in the main kitchen and decided to also go into the same kitchen. A few seconds later an argument ensued between the suspect and the deceased.”

The two then went their separate ways, the deceased to his own room while the suspect went to his sister’s room to complain. After that, he allegedly left the house, but a few minutes later the family heard the two of them arguing again.

“A family member who was in the yard ran to call her uncle who stays a few blocks away. On her return with her uncle, they found the deceased lying on the bed with a stab wound.”

The incident was then reported to the Kagsio Police and the man was arrested and charged with the murder of his father before appearing in the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court on 8 November where he was remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
