Thief caught in the act by vigilant Tarlton police; gas bottles recovered

A flat screen TV, double door fridge and two 9kg gas bottles were among the many stolen household items recovered thanks to the vigilant Tarlton police.

Vigilant Tarlton Police officers interrupted a house robbery in progress and successfully arrested a young man, aged 21.

A statement from Tarlton Police spokesperson Sergeant Sabina Mashego states that at 19:00 on Tuesday, January 3, Sergeants Nthabiseng Muso, Bongani Nemangani and Ben Henene (reservist Sergeant) were doing routine patrols when they noticed movement and light coming from torches at a Reydal plot.

The officers went to investigate and found four men busy taking property out of the house. When the men realised the police were there they started running, but the members gave chase. They eventually managed to catch one of the men.

The stolen property included a flat screen TV, double door fridge, microwave, mattress, two 9kg gas bottles, two office chairs, camping chairs and other household items.

The suspect has since been charged with being in possession of suspected stolen property and will be appearing in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court.

The Tarlton Police Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Minkie Magooe welcomed the arrest and thanked all the members for a job well done.
