Hijackers meet their match in Magalies
Magaliesburg Police arrested four suspects between the ages of 27 and 36 after they were found with a hijacked bakkie.
The effective collaboration between the community and the police recently led to the arrest of four people for hijacking.
Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere from the Magaliesburg Police said the four suspects were all aged between 27 and 36 explaining that at about 05:00 on Saturday, February 25, security officers and other role players received information about the hijacking of a Ford Ranger. The vehicle was hijacked in Zeerust but was en route to Magaliesburg.

The team acted swiftly and followed up on the information with the support of the Gauteng Highway Patrol and members from the Magaliesburg Police.
The vehicle was spotted on the R509 Koster Road and was stopped at the corner of the R24 Rustenburg and R509 Koster Roads in Magaliesburg.”
They found four people inside the vehicle and also searched the Ranger.
“Through investigation, they failed to give a satisfactory explanation for having the vehicle. They were subsequently placed under arrest and detained at the Magaliesburg police station.”

The Magaliesburg Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mawewe Vuma applauded the team for the successful apprehension of the suspects. He also acknowledged the efforts displayed by the community members and security officers.
