Young illegal man busted for business burglary

Hekpoort Police arrest undocumented person, recover stolen Telkom battery and more.

Hekpoort Police arrested a man after they found him in possession of suspected stolen property.

Hekpoort Police spokesperson Sergeant Gloria Maswanganye said the 29-year-old man was nabbed in Weldevreden, Hekpoort at about noon on Tuesday, February 21. He has since been charged with business burglary and being in the country illegally.

She said that a case of business robbery had been opened and Sergeants Pharamel, Chauke, and Phosa responded to a complaint. Their preliminary investigations led them to Weldevreden and the shack of the man.

While searching the shack they found a camera that was reported stolen during a business burglary.

Police also recovered a computer box [central processing unit], laptop, and Telkom battery. The 29-year-old male failed to explain to the police how he got it.”

The man then also failed to provide the necessary documentation to show that he is in the country legally. He was then placed under arrest for failing to comply with the immigration act, business robbery, and possession of the stolen property.
