Stokvel money stolen after coming from tavern
A man was robbed of the stokvel money he was supposed to give to his wife after he came from a tavern.
A man was hit in the face with a firearm and his stokvel cash was stolen while he was out walking at night recently. The police have arrested a 46-year-old man in connection with the crime.
Kagiso Police’s Captain Solomon Sibiya said that the suspect is facing charges of armed robbery.
On March 1, at 19:00 the victim was walking after coming from a local tavern in Rietvallei. He had stokvel cash that was supposed to be given to his wife.
While he was walking a man allegedly came out of the tavern and was then joined by another man who stopped his vehicle next to the victim and got out. The man who exited the vehicle then allegedly drew a firearm and hit the victim in the face with the weapon.
“The victim fell to the ground and the suspect searched him and took out his stokvel cash. The suspect and his accomplice who came out of the tavern thereafter fled the scene in their getaway vehicle.”
The incident was reported to the police who launched an investigation and a manhunt for the armed suspect. The suspect was then cornered and apprehended after a tip-off was received.
