‘Food fight’ almost turns deadly

An argument about food almost turned deadly for one woman.

A man has found himself behind bars after a fight about food became violent.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya confirmed that a 28-year-old man has been arrested after pointing a gun at his girlfriend last Monday, March 6. He faces a charge of assault and pointing a firearm.

The victim, who is the suspect’s girlfriend, told police that at about 14:00 that day, they were at her home when an argument about food ensued.

Her boyfriend allegedly became very angry and aggressive and attacked and assaulted her before pointing her with a firearm.

“A complaint of common assault and pointing of a firearm was reported at the Kagiso police station by the victim against the suspect.”

The police started looking for the suspect and he was successfully apprehended, detained, and charged.

“We want to urge our members of the community not to allow emotions to control their decisions.

“We also specifically wish to ask men to assist us to fight any form of crime directed at women. Let us seek help from professionals rather than resorting to violence,” urged acting station commander, Colonel Dorette Greyling.
